Discussion | SA ordered to suspend arms exports to military juntas

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa has been ordered to suspend arms exports to countries engaged in coups, war crimes and genocide.

The ruling by the High Court in Pretoria follows an application by the Southern Africa Litigation Centre in 2022.

The SALC also sought a review and setting aside of permits that facilitated the transfer of arms to war-torn Myanmar in Asia.

International Justice Cluster Lead at the centre, Atilla Kisla, tells us more.
