JOHANNESBURG - The National Institute for Communicable Diseases has been testing for more cases of the German measles.

That's due to the increase in cases for the viral infection.

The German measles, mostly affects the skin and lymph nodes.

It commonly presents with a mild illness, but can be dangerous for pregnant women and unborn babies.

Dr Kerrigan McCarthy, a pathologist from the NICD spoke to eNCA.
