CAPE TOWN - Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, has released the crime statistics for the last quarter of the previous financial year and the first quarter of the current financial year.

The Western Cape has recorded the highest increase in murder cases in the country.

In that mix, gangsterism, and more recently-extortion are among the biggest crimes battering the Province.

To help combat lawlessness there, Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, Premier Alan Winde and Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis have signed a Cooperation Agreement.
