Discussion | New Parliament committee to hold presidency accountable

CAPE TOWN - For the first time in democratic South Africa, the office of the president will be subjected to a Parliamentary oversight committee to account for its spending, among other things.

Last week, Parliament agreed to set up the committee in a motion brought by the Democratic Alliance before they joined the Government of National Unity. 

But what powers could this committee have, and would the powers be binding?
