JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department says it will step up the piloting of the new General Education Certificate.

Initially launched in 2022, the certificate will be a standardised qualification for pupils completing grade nine.
The new certificate is expected to help address South Africa’s high youth unemployment levels.
