THEMBISA, GP - As incidents of food poisoning continue, the government has announced new regulations for spaza shops across the country.
Provinces such as Gauteng and Free State have already suspended all non-school managed vendor activities on and around school grounds.
There have been at least 23 reported deaths of children from suspected food poisoning in Gauteng, and over 400 cases of food contamination linked to spaza shops, since January.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the province will implement immediate measures, including the mandatory re-registration of spaza shops.
To discuss the situation further, Bulelani Balabala, founder of the Township Entrepreneurs Alliance spoke to eNCA.
