JOHANNESBURG - The global incident that occured on Friday has been called the largest IT outage in history. 

Airlines were grounded, financial services and broadcasters stopped operating for hours.

In South Africa the outages affected the operations of banks like Capitec and ABSA and television channels.

A cybersecurity company Crowdstrike has taken responsibility, after it appeared an update to its software caused crashes and disruptions.
