JOHANNESBURG - Recent heavy rains across parts of KwaZulu-Natal have left a trail of destruction in its wake. 

Schools haven't been spared. 

On Wednesday the province's education department asked schools to allow teachers and pupils to leave early after warnings of continuing inclement weather.
