JOHANNESBURG - On Thursday, the Rand closed at R18.74 against the US Dollar.
On Friday morning, the Rand opened at R18,80 against the greenback.
It's forecast that at the end of January we're looking at a weaker rand of around R19.45.

This week we saw an increase in fuel prices, mainly due to the stronger Dollar.
Early last year, the rand strengthened after the Government of National Unity was formed.
That result helped to drive down fuel prices in October 2024.
