CAPE TOWN - The electric truck industry in South Africa is being given a jolt. 

Zero Carbon Logistics has signed a memorandum of understanding with SANY Global to roll out its off-grid electric truck charging network on the N3. 

The system is designed specifically for electric trucks on N3 route between Johannesburg and Durban.

More than 8,500 trucks use the route daily. 

So, what does this mean for South Africa's carbon emission commitments and the logistics industry?
