Discussion | Electoral matters amendment bill now law

JOHANNESBURG - The My Vote Counts is unhappy about the signing of the Electoral Matters Amendment Bill into law. 

The bill was introduced in December 2023 and was signed into law this week by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

My Vote Counts now argues that the bill is deeply flawed, unconstitutional and places too much power in the office of the President to determine the upper limit of donations, and the reporting threshold in the Political Party Funding Act.
