KZN - Dr Samantha Ndlovu has been described as an excellent student. 

She has completed her PhD in Chemistry while dealing with personal tragedy.

Ndlovu focused on using nanomaterials to improve solar cells for energy efficiency.

Over the course of her studies at UKZN, both her brothers were murdered. 

One of her two young sons, spent a year in hospital after his eye was damaged, and subsequently lost sight in that eye.
