JOHANNESBURG - There were notable victories and setbacks for several political parties, in the by-elections.

After the MK Party’s strong showing in the May elections, all eyes were on  KwaZulu-Natal.

The MK Party and the IFP have made strategic gains, while the DA consolidated its urban support.

A total of 23 by-elections took place in 14 municipalities in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, Limpopo and the North West.
