Cryptocurrency in SA | Taxman turns up the heat on traders

JOHANNESBURG - The taxman has his eye on crypto traders.

For years, many believed they were out of SARS reach.

But, the service says it can demand records from crypto exchanges just like they do with banks.

It's also using forensic services and AI to track down transactions.

Some have been receiving notices from the receiver.

Luno, a cryptocurrency exchange, says traders must be transparent and submit information when requested.
