STELLENBOSCH, WC - South Africa is facing drug scourge. 

Thousands of young people’s lives are destroyed by drug use every day.

But others have theirs taken away by imprisonment after being caught trafficking drugs around the world.

Are these mules aware of the dire repercussions of drug trafficking or has unemployment and poverty pushed them so close to the edge that they don't care about what happens if they get caught.

Criminologist Guy Lamb spoke to eNCA.
