JOHANNESBURG - Schools in the Eastern Cape have become a soft target for criminals.
According to a report by GroundUp, 131 schools have been robbed since November last year.
The provincial Department of Education has declared several areas hotspots and allocated millions of Rands to improve security at these schools.
The department says the crime hotspots were in the northern areas of KwaZakhele, Zwide, and Motherwell in Gqeberha.
We are joined by Eastern Cape Education spokesperson, Mali Mtima.
