Crime in SA | Concern over rise in kidnappings
DURBAN - Crime stats reveal that 213 kidnapping cases were reported in the Eastern Cape in the last quarter of 2023 it is a vast improvement of over 8-percent compared to the same period the previous year.

But 2024 has already seen a surge in kidnappings, with the most recent one in Kariega in the Eastern Cape.
This is a fifth abduction in the province, in the space of three months, and follows the recent kidnapping, of a Gqeberha businessman Neal Al-Tow, who disappeared over a week ago.
Herman Bosman, the head of crisis incident management at TSU International, discussed this increase in kidnappings.
