Cost of living | Reserve Bank giveth and Eskom taketh

JOHANNESBURG - This week brought both good and bad news for South African consumers.  

Interest rates were reduced by 25 basis points, offering some relief.

But, electricity costs surged by over 12%, way above inflation.

This increase could offset any savings from the interest rate cut, especially for those with significant debt.
