JOHANNESBURG - Action SA in the Western Cape is threatening to go the legal route over a permit which allows the City of Cape Town to pump wastewater into the ocean.
The permit by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment allows for the release of screened sewage into the ocean at several beaches.
The party says this will endanger human health and negatively impact tourism and marine life.
Previously, some Cape Town beaches were forced to close during the festive season due to sewage spillage.
