JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Laws Amendment Act has found support and opposition from different quarters.
Many unions and provincial education departments support the legislation.
But some opposition parties and groups are unhappy with certain clauses -- specifically, clause 4 and 5 which deal with language and admission policies.
Another point of contention has been greater scrutiny on homeschooling.
We discuss the BELA Act further with Hanlie Dippenaar from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and homeschooling parent, Lea Johnson.
