GQEBERHA - The Africa Cup of Nations is the holy grail of football on the continent.

But for years long suffering South African football fans have had to endure heartache, embarrassment, and at times a sense of hopelessness dished out by their underperforming national team.

The class of 2024, however, showed that Bafana Bafana still possess the fighting spirit, that once saw them lift the coveted trophy in 1996.

This year, their captain courageous Ronwen Williams left AFCON in the Ivory Coast, as goalkeeper of the tournament.
