Africa Peace Dialogue | AU promises to silence the guns by 2030

JOHANNESBURG - The African Union has promised to silence the guns by 2030.

But, conflicts in northern Mozambique, the DRC, Sudan and parts of Nigeria show the guns are still very loud.

Deputy Defence Minister Bantu Holomisa says the continent needs better early warning systems.

He says this will help regional blocs deal with emerging conflicts before they erupt in violence.

He was speaking at the Thabo Mbeki Foundation's Annual Peace Dialogue.
