HARARE, ZIMBABWE - Over 65 illegal foreign currency dealers in Zimbabwe have been in jail for over a week now.
They were arrested following the introduction of the new ZIG currency earlier this month.
Police are clamping down on forex dealers, believing this will prevent Zimbabwe Gold from losing value. But, economists say the clampdown wont help the devaluation of the gold-backed currency.
The currency is officially trading at 13 Zigs to the dollar, stronger than the Rand.
eNCA correspondent Pindai Dube reports.
