CAPE TOWN - Tension is brewing between the City of Cape Town and Santaco Western Cape.
In the last 60 days, 1,200 minibus taxis have been seized, according to officials.
The city's safety and security directorate denies that these impoundments are targeting the taxi industry, and says traffic officials will continue to punish all noncompliant motorists.
However, Santaco claims that the city's taxi task team continues to impound vehicles outside of agreed-upon parameters.
