JOHANNESBURG - With rape numbers at alarmingly high levels in the country, the escape of convicted rapist Clatta Gumbo from a Mamelodi Hospital has left the community shaken.
Gumbo is one rapist in a multitude of rapists in South Africa, as confirmed by Police Minister Bheki Cele during the release of the third quarter crime statistics on Friday.
