CAPE TOWN - A Public Protector investigation into the gender-based violence victim support system nationwide has found serious inadequacies.
Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka has instituted immediate remedial action, in the Departments of Justice, Social Development and SAPS.
The investigation was initiated following system failures in the case of a Cape Town woman, and her 7-year-old daughter, who were murdered in June 2020, by her ex-boyfriend.
Altecia Kortje was sent from pillar to post while attempting to apply for a protection order.
