JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says over 5 million prepaid meters have been upgraded nationwide before Sunday's deadline.
This week saw long lines of customers trying to upgrade their meters.
Eskom had to deploy extra staff to ensure people were assisted timely.
Customers who fail to meet the deadline may have to fork out R12,000 to replace their meters.
The power utility is urging those yet to upgrade their meters to do so before Sunday as officials maintain the deadline won't be extended.
