LIMPOPO - A multi-billion-rand Bulk water project is finally nearing completion in Giyani, Limpopo, after being launched nine years ago.
The project has been marred by controversy, including reports of corruption.
Recently, the local Chief, Jeffrey Ramovha allegedly demanded R20m in compensation from the government, claiming that the land where the water is sourced belongs to him.
He reportedly sent armed men to stop the project after government refused to pay up.
Efforts to solicit a comment from Chief Ramovha were unsuccessful.
Ramovha says he is not speaking to the media.
