WATCH | City of Tshwane to elect new mayor, ANC backs ActionSA's Moya

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC is throwing its support behind Nasiphi Moya as Tshwane's next mayor.

Party spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri has called on residents, to support the new executive as they try to turn things around and improve service delivery in the metro.

The Tshwane council is set to elect a new mayor on Wednesday, following the ousting of Cilliers Brink through an ANC-led motion of no confidence last month.

Since then, political horse-trading in the metro has been underway to determine who should replace Brink.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, ANC's Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said, “after extensive engagement, on the calibre of the candidates, and the tight time frames we have to sort out the problems, the ANC agreed to support the candidature of the current acting mayor, councillor Dr Nasiphi Moya.”

Tshwane residents are waiting to find out who will lead the metro.
