JOHANNESBURG - The death toll in the George building collapse now stands at 32.
Eight more bodies were recovered on Tuesday.
Twenty people remain unaccounted for while 13 are currently in hospital.
As rescue efforts continue, Monday marked a week since the multi-story building caved in, yet the cause of the disaster remains unknown.
Western Cape authorities are investigating.
George Building Collapse | Forensics say bodies more difficult to identify
Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Sihle Zikalala says the government doesn't have intimate details of the main contractor of the structure that collapsed in George.
However, this is not against the law as the company is not compelled to register with the Construction Industry Development Board.
The laws don't force companies to do so when they do work for private clients.
Zikalala says the CIDB Amendment Bill seeks to change this for improved compliance and enforcement of CIDB prescripts.
As investigations are underway, the South African Council for the Projects and Construction Management Professions says it is working hard to determine whether the contractors were registered.
