JOHANNESBURG - The official unemployment rate for South Africa has come down to 32.1% for the third quarter of 2024.
This is a decline from 33.5% in the second quarter, and 32-point-9 percent in the first quarter of the year.
Quarter-on-quarter, employment increased in the community and social services, construction, and trade industries.
Decreases were recorded in the finance, private households, manufacturing, and transport industries.
Youth and young adult unemployment levels remain high, at 60.2% and 40.4% respectively.
According to the latest report, more than a third of young people were not in employment, education, or training.
