JOHANNESBURG - Three out of 10. That's the score Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi has given the province's education MEC for Gauteng’s performance in the 2023 NSC exams.
Despite the province achieving an 85 percent pass rate -- an improvement from 2022 -- Gauteng has dropped to third place nationally.
The province's top performing pupils, schools and districts were celebrated in Bryanston.
Johannesburg West is the best performing district nationwide, while Gauteng pupils achieved a total of 41,459 distinctions.
Lesufi believes there's still more work to be done.
