Tshwane Council | DA accuses ActionSA of not following processes

JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance says ActionSA did not follow processes within the coalition before bringing a motion in the Tshwane council.

ActionSA submitted an urgent motion to compel Mayor Cilliers Brink to reinstate fired Tshwane workers.

SAMWU-affiliated municipal workers have been protesting over a pay increase, and over 100 have been fired for participating in an unprotected strike.

However, the motion could not proceed as the council meeting collapsed after squabbling and it was eventually postponed.

"ActionSA did not follow any of the proper processes in terms of our coalition agreement in bringing the motion. It was never discussed in the pre-caucus, it was sort of sprung on us at the last moment," said City of Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink.
