Rail operator to stabilise by March 2025
JOHANNESBURG - State capture, corruption, and bad decisions have thrown Transnet seriously off-track in recent years.
Added to that, a lack of maintenance was blamed for a backlog at South African ports last year.
But Transnet says it has a plan to turn things around. A National Logistics Crisis Committee was established by the President and corridor recovery teams which added independent experts and the private sector.
Transnet Chairperson Andile Sangqu says the expect to stabilise by March next year.
