JOHANNESBURG - 81-year-old singer-songwriter Sixto Diaz Rodriguez has died after a short illness from suffering a stroke.
Rodriguez is known for the Academy Award-winning documentary ‘Searching for Sugar Man’.
In the early 1970s he released his albums 'Cold Fact' and 'Coming from Reality'.
The Detroit musician has performed at a number of well-known festivals such as Coachella.
In 1998 he performed at six sold-out shows in South Africa where he has been described to be bigger than Elvis Presley.
He leaves behind three daughters.
