STILFONTEIN - The rescue operation at the Stilfontein shaft in North West has kicked off.
The first phase of the plan, to clear the site, has been completed.
It’s expected to take a few more days before it moves underground to rescue miners.
Local communities and concerned groups remain worried about the apparent sluggish pace of the operation as they fear for the well-being of the illegal miners.
