Stabbed young scientist's family left puzzled and shocked after her death

JOHANNESBURG - Two weeks ago, scientist Dorcas ‘Didi’  Lekganyane was celebrating a career highlight,  being named in the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans list for 2024.

All that promise has been cut short, allegedly at the hands of her partner. Lekganyane suffered multiple stab wounds in a nighttime attack at home.

Her husband is now in hospital, for reasons that are not yet clear.

Her family hope he will be able to provide answers.
