PARIS - The Rugby World Cup has seemingly taken a nasty turn.
South African Rugby Union director of rugby, Rassie Erasmus, has revealed that scrumhalf Cobus Reinach received death threats.
This after Reinach’s starring role in the Springboks’ quarter-final win over hosts France on Sunday.
Erasmus announced on social media that Reinach received a hateful message on Instagram, and it was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
One of the messages seemingly makes a threat to kill Reinach’s young son.
The Bok scrum-half plies his trade in France, playing for French Top 14 club Montpellier.
The Springboks are gearing up for 2019 runners-up England in the semi-final on Saturday night.
This is obviously not true. Unfortunately these threats was made to Cobus Reinach!! Its not nice and upsets a mom and dad to see things like that said about their boy! But we are not gonna whine, we will just move on!!! Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie 🇿🇦 https://t.co/sghjhA2z9l pic.twitter.com/61ZFBQJxT8
