JOHANNESBURG - A special tribunal has set aside a R257-million PPE contract awarded by the Gauteng Health Department during the pandemic.
The Tribunal reviewed and declared the contract awarded to Nkhane Projects and Supply invalid.
The Special Investigating Unit found that Nkhane had made an unsolicited proposal to the provincial department, outside of a competitive bidding process.
The company demanded payment of almost R90 million for goods already delivered but not paid for by the Gauteng Health Department.
A further R28 million in goods was ordered, but the department has refused to accept them.
Nkhane Projects and Supply has been divested along with all profits earned from it.
