Severe weather continues in the Eastern Cape

BUFFALO CITY - Dumped and left to fend for themselves: this is how many flood-affected residents in the Buffalo City Metro, have described the response by local authorities.

They say they have not received promised temporary shelters since falling victim to floods in May.

But the City says despite a few snags, the process of building the structures is now set to begin.

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality told eNCA last month, that all destitute residents have been moved out of shelters.

Authorities in the Buffalo City Metro say it is due to unforeseen circumstances that many flood victims still live in shelters.

The city also says that the Directorate for Spatial Planning and Development, tasked to look for suitable land to erect temporary structures and building material, has since done so.

Moving people out of these shelters is expected to take place soon.
