    JOHANNESBURG - Senzo Meyiwa’s brother Sifiso says the accused on trial for the soccer star's murder are innocent.

    He says police are trying to cover up for the people who committed the crime.

    Five men are on trial for killing the former Pirates and Bafana captain.

    "The accused know nothing. These guys are innocent. That’s what I have been saying from the start," Meyiwa said.

    "That’s what caused an argument between me and [lawyer] Gerrie Nel. I told him these people are innocent.

    "He insisted they are involved. And I decided not to continue working with them because I can't work with people who don’t believe me.

    "We are here because [investigating officer] Brigadier Bongani Gininda is behind this. He arrested them because he stole the statement. They were promised money. The families can tell you."
