CAPE TOWN - Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, has asked parliament to approve his 189-Billion-rand price tag for police visibility, over the medium-term.

The Visible Policing programme, is at least, half of the total allocation.

The South African Policing Union says it's confident Minister Senzo Mchunu's crime fighting approach, will achieve desired results. 

Mchunu has indicated that he wants to develop norms and standards for a functional police station.

SAPU says this is the first step in rooting out crime.
