Johannesburg emergency services say this is to allow the river streams to cool off.
The missing 18-year-old girl and 21-year-old man are believed to have been washed away during a ritual at Klip River near Olifantsvlei over the weekend.
Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said, "due to the intense search and recovery operation we had from 8 around this morning, we have decided to call off the search for today [Monday]."
"We will be resuming tomorrow [Tuesday] morning."
"We want to allow the river streams to give off so that tomorrow we can have options to explore."
