Santaco in the Western Cape says the decision to embark on a week-long stay away wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.
Its provincial leadership says more than 6,000 mini-bus taxis have been impounded since the beginning of the year.
It's accusing the City of running operations that specifically target the taxi industry.
