PRETORIA - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says changes to electricity laws will change the power landscape.
It gives impetus to the unbundling of Eskom and ends the utility's monopoly on energy generation.
In five years, South Africans will be able to choose electricity providers.
"The other major development that is significant because it is beginning to remake the South African energy landscape is the fact that the Electricity Bill has been passed," he said.
"It will make it easier to produce and sell electricity in South Africa. It ensures that all producers are treated equally and fairly."
