PRETORIA - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says National Treasury has given Eskom some breathing space to carry out critical maintenance.
Ramokgopa says three out of five the units at Kendal power station should be back online by the end of Monday.
He was giving an update on the country's implementation of the energy action plan.
Ramokgopa said they have placed part of that fiscal support to ensure they invest aggressively on maintenance side.
"If you were to take the period of December 2023 to January 2024, why am I isolating that period?
"Traditionally in Eskom the December period... you have some degree of relief on the demand side so you are using that opportunity to be aggressive on the maintenance."
