Ramaphosa reflects on municipal mayhem

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has addressed the media regarding the challenges facing local government in South Africa.

He highlighted a range of issues affecting municipalities, including leadership problems, corruption, mismanagement of funds and revenue and capacity lacks.

"Our local government has been beset by a number of problems, a variety of problems that have impacted on leadership," he said.

"A combination of all those problems and challenges is now what we have to deal with and of course we've got to solve."
