TSHWANE - Amazulu King MisuZulu kaZwelithini's coronation is valid and he is the rightful heir to the throne according to submissions by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s legal team to the High Court on Tuesday.
King MisuZulu’s brother, Prince Simakade claims he should be the king of the Zulu Nation and wants last year's coronation set aside.
Advocate Marumo Moerane said, "The president agrees that he was guided by the judgment of Justice Madondo, where in expressly found that the Royal family had in fact identified Prince MisuZulu as a successful King elect."
"We submit that the was no appeal against Justice Madondo’s judgment and findings on this particular point in the SCA, and we submit that it remains valid."
"The common course that the judgment of Justice Mandondo was handed down on 2 March 2022 and that the impune decision by the president was taken by the 16th of March 2022, it's also common course that applicant in the Prince Mbonisi matter under case 220879 served and files a notice of application for lave to appeal in terms of Section 17 of the superior courts act on the 17th of March , a day after the decision had been made."
