CAPE TOWN - The Office of The Public Protector has been facing funding challenges for years.
The institution has now approached the Criminal Assets Recovery Account for assistance.
Kholeka Gcaleka says this is the first time the office is applying for CARA funding.
She was addressing the Cape Town Press Club.
"We have made an application to the Criminal Assets Recovery Account (CARA) funding I have been informed we have been successful," she said.
"It is the first time in history that the Public Protector is accessing the CARA funding."
