Probe underway into cause of Joburg CBD fire

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Emergency Services says flammable materials used for an informal settlement are likely what fuelled a building fire in the CBD.

Two people were killed in the blaze.

Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Nana Kgiba says that there will be a preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire.

The residential building located at the corner of Commissioner and Nugget streets caught on fire earlier on Sunday morning.

Four people have been taken to hospital for treatment.
